Flavia, a Grade 12 student from Italy, recently graduated from Saint Anthony's High School in Long Island, New York, where she attended for two years. She shared with us her study abroad experience at the school and her university admissions result.

Q: Briefly introduce yourself.

A: Hi, I'm Flavia from Italy. I just graduated from Saint Anthony's High School after joining as a junior and spending two years there.

Q: How did you know about St. Anthony’s and what made you decide to come here to study?

A: I discovered Saint Anthony's while searching online for East Coast private high schools. The school's size, American feel, football field, and the friendly appearance of students and staff attracted me. I knew this was the school for me.

Q: After you studied at St. Anthony’s for over a year, what do you like the most about this school?

A: I love the international environment with students from various countries. The school has about 10% of international students, which is a great proportion. It helped me learn about different cultures and languages, including a bit of Portuguese. The school offers a wide range of activities and clubs, and if something you like isn't available, you can create it. The teachers are open, friendly, and genuinely care about how you're doing, which is different from the formal teacher-student relationships in Italy.

Q: What does your daily schedule look like? Have you participated in any extracurricular activities?

A: In my first year, I joined several clubs like the book club and debate club. In my second year, I focused on student council and the track team, which took up most of my time.

Q: Do you have any special memory of your study abroad experience?

A: I had a special bond with one teacher who supported me through the challenges of adjusting to a new country and being away from my family. She was like a mother figure to me.

Q: What's your plan after graduation?

A: I will be attending Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, where I will major in Law.

Q: What do you think the advantage of doing your high school in the U.S. is vs doing it in your home country?

A: In the US, teachers are more approachable and genuinely concerned about your well-being, unlike the formal relationships with teachers in Italy.

Q: Can you please share some advice with international students who are coming to study abroad?

A: If you're thinking about studying abroad, go for it! Saint Anthony's is a wonderful place to learn and grow. Welcome to Saint Anthony's High School.

Flavia is committed to Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, a top European university, where she will be majoring in Law.
