For the third consecutive year, our Amerigo Napa Valley campus community has come together for a special cause—the Prom Wear Drive in support of students on the Navajo Nation Reservation. This incredible initiative, aimed at providing formal attire for students who may not otherwise have access, has been spearheaded by Ann Nguyen, a senior from Vietnam.

Ann took the initiative to reach out to reporter Betty Yu, a journalist known for her impeccable style, to bring greater visibility to the project. The excitement kicked off on Friday, when Ann, alongside Miss Napa Valley, Jonnarose Palma, went shopping for dresses and shoes to donate. Their shared commitment to empowering students through fashion made for a truly meaningful experience.

By Sunday, Ann was making headlines herself. She and our campus staff Jason Guiducci had the unique opportunity to step into KTVU’s newsroom in Oakland for a live interview, helping spread awareness about the drive and the impact it would have on students in need.

In Napa, the support from our local community was immediate and heartwarming. Our dorm and Sweetie Pies Bakery in Napa became collection points, and donations started pouring in before Ann and the team even returned from the newsroom.

On Tuesday, Ann and her team took part in a Google Meet with personnel from Hozhogoiina365, the health and wellness organization on the Navajo Reservation that runs the teen boutique. Their response was positive—they were deeply moved by the coverage and felt that the segment did justice to their cause.

Ann Nguyen's determination, leadership, and passion for service have left an indelible mark on both our campus and the broader community. As she looks ahead to a future in journalism, Ann has already proven she has the drive and talent to make an impact through storytelling and advocacy.

If you would like to contribute to the Prom Wear Drive, donations are still being accepted at our dorm and Sweetie Pies Bakery in Napa. Thank you to everyone who has supported this initiative and helped make prom a reality for students in need!
